![]() Château BeychevelleProduct Description:Château Beychevelle, a prestigious Cru Classe forged by three centuries of history. Since the Middle Ages the renowned owners of château Beychevelle have gradually endowed it with the finest plots and have maintained through the centuries the tradition still presiding over the destiny of the Versailles of the Medoc. The wine produced here was classified as one of the ten Fourth Growths in the historic Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. The Château makes a second label called Amiral de Beychevelle. Under Henri III, Beychevelle was the fief of the Dukes of Epernon, particularity the first of them: Jean-Louis Nogaret de la Valette. This Admiral & Governor of Guyenne was all-powerful; according to legend, the boats that passed before his Château had to lower their sails as a sign of allegiance. Hence the name Baisse-Voile lowering of sails, which was to become Beychevelle, and the emblem of the château, ship with a prow in the shape of a griffin guarding Dionysus' cellar. Type: Subtle and eternal. Food pairing: Powerful red meat like lamb, pigeon, ostrich. Nose: Roasted herbs, black cherries, blacker fruits. Palate: Juicy character through the middle, red fruit notes. The tannins and grip are nicely hidden. Ideal serving temperature: 17-18 degrees Celsius.
